The day that Cathy and I have been waiting for is almost here (tomorrow in fact). We’re both very excited for our special day, but at the same time we can’t wait for our lives to get back to normal. It’s a funny thing, but I guess that’s the way it goes. So starting tomorrow, we will begin our day of frantic scrambling and all the while, we’ll be praying that everything runs smoothly. Sadly, this will be my last blog post for a while since we’ll be handling the wedding and taking a fabulous trip to Las Vegas soon after. I do plan on taking my camera with me, so expect a large photo upload when I return. There will also be an engagement shoot coming and a few more weddings so be sure to keep following the blog. Thanks everyone! Wish us luck!

This past weekend I had the opportunity to go to a beautiful wedding in downtown Des Moines. Stephanie and Brandon went high-class all the way and had a wonderful ceremony. I was happy to be part of that day and capture some great moments for them. Here is one of my favorite images from this weekend.

It’s been a little while since I’ve posted on the blog, but to be honest, things have been a bit hectic lately with the upcoming wedding. To make things worse, I’ve been having computer problems. About a week and a half ago, my wonderful Dell XPS 400 was stricken with a terrible virus. Although I had everything backed up on external hard drives, the fact that I had to re-install the operating system and track down all the appropriate drivers severely crippled my workflow.
It was at that point, that I decided to give my Dell a break and retire it in lieu of something new. After much contemplation I decided to replace it with a new 27-inch iMac. I recently received delivery and I must say that it blew my socks completely off.
Not only is it fast thanks to the quad-core and upgraded RAM, but it’s also very user friendly and fits my workflow quite easily. With the smaller, wireless keyboard and mouse, it frees up a lot of desk space and helps keep me organized. It brings so many things to the table that I can’t help but share some of my favorite features:
• Mail – Now I can have both my personal and business email in one email client instead of going to two separate web pages…hallelujah!
• iCal – I love this, I can keep track of my personal and business calendar in one application and make notes on upcoming events
• Time Machine – Backing up data is CRUCIAL, I love this program because it runs behind the scenes, backing everything up for me
• Address Book – Makes it easier to keep track of clients and store their information for future reference
• External Storage – I bought two 2TB external hard drives and one 1TB external hard drive for the iMac to act as photo storage, photo backup,
and system backup for all my data. All of these are daisy-chained together with firewire 800 connections for fast transfer rates
Since I touched upon the external storage I’ll also say that I’ve redone the way I store and backup my images. I’m planning on writing a post on that topic soon, but for now, I’ll leave you with a bit of eye candy!

This weekend we hosted an 80s themed roller skate/pizza party for family and friends. We had a lot of fun grooving to the 80s and flying around the rink. I decked myself out in traditional 80s garb, but amazingly, I wasn’t the best-dressed. My mom was crowned the best-dressed because she showed up in a totally awesome 80s punk outfit that blew all of us away. Way to go mom! I did win the award for the best fall though. Yup, that’s right…I sealed my victory when I slipped off my feet, went completely horizontal in the air, and came down hard on my butt with a sickening SMACK that could be heard across the rink. So hooray for me. Here is a teaser from the day, more photos to follow!
